Sight: Eye Crisis in India”
and
“The
Unwanted: India's Orphan Crisis”
"Ambassador Pictures, Inc., is currently in development with two
documentary projects entitled, “Second
Sight: Eye Crisis in India”
and "The Unwanted: India's Orphan Crisis."
"Second Sight: Eye Crisis in
India"
The focus of this project is
to create awareness of the rapidly declining eye health in India.
*Globally, every five seconds
a person goes blind
*37 million people in the
world today are blind
*Nine out of ten blind people
live in the developing world
*75% of global blindness can
be prevented or cured
The eye crisis in India is
staggering. Of the estimated seven million people who are blind in India, around
65% aged over 50 are suffering from cataract and 20% from refractive errors.
Both conditions are easily treatable, and the overwhelming majority of these
people could, in fact, regain their sight or have it significantly improved thus
restoring their dignity, quality of life and value in their community.
The other major causes of
blindness in the country are glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and most tragic of
all, childhood blindness. Estimates would suggest that there are approximately
400,000 children in India who are blind in both eyes. This includes those who
are effectively blind due to uncorrected refractive error which means that all
they need are some appropriate eye glasses. The figure rises to 2 million when
those who have serious visual impairment are included as well. It is thought
that 17% of these cases are irreversible.
"The Unwanted-India's Orphan
Crisis"
The focus of this project is
to create awareness about India's orphans and the immense struggle...
Ambassador Pictures, Inc. is
dedicated to our mission which is to develop, package, and produce high quality
impacting digital films that will stir world awareness through the media. These
documentaries will be available for global broadcasting.
